Dalton Louis Baugh, Sr., Was born in Crossett, Arkansas, on June 23, 1912.  He attended Arkansas State College at Pine Bluff three years and later had courses at Hampton (Virginia) Institute; Lincoln Tech. ( a part of Northeastern University), Boston, Massachusetts; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Cambridge.  Prior to enlisting in the US Naval Reserve, he was in charge of auto mechanic classes for high school and freshman college students at Arkansas State College.  There he also conducted a defense class for war production workers.

He enlisted in the US Naval Reserve on September 21, 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas.  Prior to receiving his appointment as Ensign, he was serving as a Motor Machinist’s Mate First Class at the US Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.  Commissioned Ensign in the US Naval Reserve on February 24, 1944, he subsequently advanced in rank to that of Lieutenant, to date from April 5, 1951.

After receiving his commission in 1944, he remained at the Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, until June of that year, when he joined the USS Migrant.  Detached from that vessel in August 1945, he next had instruction at the Advanced Base Supply Training Command, Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Virginia, and in September 1945 reported as Operations Officer with Logistics Support Company #74 at Port Hueneme, California.  He continued to serve there until released from active duty November 25, 1945.

Lieutenant Baugh has the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
