About Curator Branch

The mission of the Curator Branch is to identify, collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate the material history and heritage of the U.S. Navy. We contribute to the Navy’s readiness through the preservation of material heritage. Curator Branch serves as the central artifact repository for the U.S. Navy. The collection includes material from decommissioning ships, bases, and Navy commands as well as private donors. The branch’s loan program serves the Navy, civic organizations, veterans groups, museums and historical societies and has a worldwide audience. Curator Branch advises the Director, Naval History and Heritage Command on curatorial issues and establishes policy for all artifacts service wide.
