Allen LeRoy Clark

Allen LeRoy Clark was born in Alton, Illinois, on September 29, 1922, son of William F. Clark and Mrs. Irene Clark. He enlisted in the US Naval Reserve on July 27, 1942 and later was appointed an Aviation Cadet, USNR he attended Pre-Flight School at Athens, Georgia; had elimination flight training at the Naval Air Station, Olathe, Kansas, and completed his instruction at the Naval Air station, Corpus Christi, Texas. Designated Naval Aviator and commissioned Ensign, USNR, on October 15, 1943, he subsequently advanced in rank, attaining that of Lieutenant Commander, to date from July, 1, 1954.

After receiving his “Wings” in 1943, he was assigned to Patrol Squadron Ninety-Four, in which he served as a Copilot until February 1945. He next had operational training at the Naval Air Station, Hutchinson, Kansas, and in June 1945 transferred to the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, for further training. In June 1946 he reported as Assistant Maintenance Officer at the Naval Air Station, St. Louis, Missouri and was serving as Assistant Personnel Officer when relieved of active duty in October 1947.

Prior to being recalled to active duty in April 1952, he attended Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, from which he received the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. While there he was a member of the Organized Naval Reserve, attached to Patrol Squadron Nine Hundred Twenty One, serving as Patrol Plane Commander, Electronics and Personnel Officer. His first assignment, after his recall to active duty was a student at the CIC (Combat Information Center) Training School, Glenview, Illinois. In October 1952 he joined the staff of Commander Carrier Division Fifteen as CIC Officer, and in June 1954 reported as Legal Assistance Officer with the Fleet Airborne Electronics Training Unit, Pacific. In that assignment, he had temporary additional duty from June to August 1954 as a student at the school of Naval Justice, Newport, Rhode Island.

From April 1955 to October 1956 he was Legal Assistance Officer on the staff of Commander Air Force, Pacific, after which he was an instructor at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tennessee. In September 1958 he was assigned to the US Naval Recruiting Station, Seattle, Washington, where he now serves as Officer in Charge.

Lieutenant Commander Clark has the Naval Reserve Medal; American Campaign Medal; Astatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Navy Occupation Service Medal, Asia Clasp; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal; and the United Nations Service Medal.
