George Ronald Bevan

George Ronald Bevan was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on April 20, 1897. He had enlisted service as a Private in World War I for one year in 1918-1919. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from which he was graduated with the degree of DDS prior to entering the Naval Service on April 16, 1934 as a Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve. He has had active duty since September 1940, and through normal promotions has attained the rank of Captain on April 20, 1951, his date of rank July 1, 1950.

From September1940 to January 1942 he served in the Dental Office at Headquarters, Third Naval District, New York, New York, and the Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York. During most of the World War II period, he served in the Dental Office of the District Headquarters, Third Naval District, leaving there in April 1945 for ten months’ duty at the Naval Hospital, Naval Operating Base, Norfolk, Virginia. In February 1947 he reported to the Naval Air Station, Miami, Florida, and for a year thereafter was attached to the Naval Reserve Training Unit there.

In March 1948 he was transferred to the Naval Air Station, Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, New York, where he remained on duty as Dental Officer until September 1952. Since October of that year he has been attached to the Naval Dental Clinic at the US Naval Base, Brooklyn.

Captain Bevan has the Naval Reserve Medal; the Victory Medal for World War I; the American Defense Service Medal; the American Campaign Medal; the World War II Victory Medal; and the National Defense Service Medal.
