Detailed Description of the Collection

Photographic Album, 1908-1914
This 53-page photographic album was compiled by Robert S. Haggart while he was a midshipman at the US Naval Academy and during his first two years of naval service with USS Michigan (BB-27). The album contains approximately 300 black and white photographs showing various individuals, and groups and activities at the naval academy that Midshipman Haggart participated in. The bulk of the photographs were taken during the summer cruises of 1909, 1910 and 1911. Subjects include shipboard scenes and activities, seascapes, other naval ships, and views of the ports and harbors visited. Other subjects include various views of the naval academy, as well as a host of parades and athletic events. The last section of the album contains numerous shipboard photographs taken on board USS Michigan and group pictures of that ship's officers.

Photographic Album of Activities, US Naval Training Station, San Diego, 1944-1948
This album contains approximately ninety 8x10 black and white photographs showing Commodore Haggart, commanding officer of the San Diego Naval Training Station, during various ceremonies and award presentations. There are also eighteen 4 1/2 x 3/12 photographs of what appears to be a victory parade through the streets of San Diego, circa 1945.
