TLS dated 14 July 1905, Navy Department. Directs Lieutenant Commander Kaemmerling, USN, to examine machinery on vessels at Bath Iron Works.

SIR:-
Having been appointed Member of the Board
to appraise the cost of changes in the machinery of
vessels building for the Navy at the Bath Iron Works,
Bath, Me., you will report by letter to Rear Admiral
John A. B. Smith, U.S.N., Retired, President of said
Board for this duty.
You are authorized to perform such travel
between Boston, Mass., and Bath, Me., as may be neces-
sary in the proper performance of this duty. Keep a
memorandum of the travel so performed, and submit the
same to the Department from time to time for its ap-
proval, in accordance with the provisions of Special
Order No. 73
, dated April 18th, 1905, a copy of which is 
enclosed herewith.
This is in addition to your present duties.
