Asa Curtis - Gun survey, 1 April 1837

1794-1858

ALS dated 1 April 1837. Letter written aboard USS Independence requesting a survey of three gun breechings deemed unfit for service, followed by a written order by Captain William Jamesson for the survey. The second page confirms that the order had been carried out and is signed by the officers of the ship.

Sir,
I respectfully request that a survey be held on
three gun Breechings which I deem unfit
for service.
