Scope and Content Notes

This collection contains the personal papers of Marion B. Stafford, a nurse with the American Red Cross-Harvard Unit. Ms. Stafford and three other nurses were among the survivors when MIS VIGRID (a Norwegian ship in a British convoy) was torpedoed on 24 June 1941. The collections includes: correspondence, 1 August 1941-28 January 1970; a monograph, "And Now--The Twelfth Night", (undated) of her experience on VIGRID; newspaper accounts of the lifeboat experience (23 July 1941); a Red Cross Commendation (Summer, 1941); miscellaneous hospital documents (undated) relating to treatment/recuperation; and several photographs of Ms. Stafford and friends, 1941.
