Scope and Content Note

This collection contains the letters of Petty Officer Darwin Edmundson to Miss Joyce Lobner. The collection of letters provides insight into the emotions of a World War II sailor in the Pacific who has no idea when he is going to return home. The collection details Petty Officer Edmundson's thoughts throughout the Pacific campaign, through flight training in 1945, and his return to civilian life. The collection also includes commentary on the letters by James T. Watkins, Professor Emeritus, Stanford University.
