Scope and Content Note

This collection is arranged in eight folders. The first folder consists of official correspondence from the 1950s dealing with Minecraft Bases in San Pedro, California, and Charleston, South Carolina. The second folder contains memos from World War II concerning mine technology, mine laying, distribution, and sweeping.

In the third folder is information regarding mine history. This folder includes a bibliography, charts of funding, an article on the philosophy of mine laying, information on World War II mine laying and sweeping from various countries, a history of the Confederate use of mine warfare in Charleston Harbor, exploration of the ironclad Cairo, sunk in 1862, and various Navy memoranda.

The fourth folder contains plans of Minecraft Bases at Charleston and at San Pedro. Also included in this folder are general plans of an MSC-209 ship. The fifth folder contains mine warfare information, including various studies, reports, development issues, and other technical information. The sixth folder contains Technical instructions to Mine Depots Circuits Volumes I-III. The seventh folder contains various photographs of minesweepers and audiovisual presentation materials of underwater pictures and Soviet submarine combat radii. The eighth folder contains assorted articles and clippings.
