Scope and Content Notes

This collection consists of three folders.

The collection is comprised of Oliver’s hand-written diaries during WWII and the Korean War. The first diary details his service during WWII, 1942-1944, onboard several LCT, LST, and LCI craft during Operation Torch and operations off the shore of Italy. There is considerable detail regarding various shelling and raids along the Italian coastal cities, including Anzio (Battle of Anzio). The second diary consists of Oliver’s service aboard USS Elokomin (AO-55).
