Biographical Note

Dorothy Loktu enlisted in the WAVES during World War II. She served as a Yeoman, achieving the rate of YN1. Her final duty station was at Minneapolis Naval Air Station, where she retired from active duty in April 1966. Following her retirement, she continued to serve in the Naval Reserve.


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists largely of published materials collected by Yeoman Dorothy Loktu. There are three series. In Series I, Reunions, are programs, brochures, flyers, and correspondence related to WAVE reunions between 1953 and 1964. This series is arranged chronologically.

Series II, Publications, contains miscellaneous publications distributed by the Navy and civilian organizations as well as newsletters from Navy installations, including Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Twin Cities Naval Air Station, Key West Naval Air Station, and Treasure Island. The Publications Series is arranged alphabetically by title.

The final series, Miscellaneous, contains newspaper clippings, three copies of photographs of Dorothy Loktu, and other documents related to Loktu's Navy career. This series is arranged alphabetically.
