Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of the papers of Radioman Third Class Mitchell Cohn, USN. From Long Island, New York, Cohn attended the Naval Reserve Radio School in Norton Heights, Connecticut. In 1941, he was assigned to USS Enterprise. Cohn was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941.

The collection is arranged in two series. Series I, Correspondence, is largely made up of letters from Cohn to his mother, Annette. The letters describe his life onboard ship and at Radio School, his duties, activities while on liberty, and news of family members. The correspondence is arranged chronologically.

The collection also contains a single photograph of two British sailors while on liberty.
