Biographical Note

Esther N. "Essie" Behr served as a nurse with the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. She accepted appointment as a Reserve Nurse of July 5, 1917 and was released from active duty and discharged on January 8, 1919.

Scope and Content Note

The collection is comprised largely of letters to Esther Behr's family during her service with the American Expeditionary Force. Also included are her service record and a 1926 family photograph.
