Scope and Content Note

This is the collection of personal and official papers relating to John M. Maury's naval service as Assistant United States Naval Attaché in Murmansk, USSR. The majority of the collection spans his assignment in Murmansk in 1944 and 1945. Materials include orders, endorsements, duty assignments, citations, a passport, journal entries, personal and official correspondence, intelligence reports, correspondence of and dispatches from Rear Admiral S.B. Frankel, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, and photographs. Also included are source materials and an incomplete outline for a project under contract for the Naval War College.
