Scope and Content Note

Most of this material relates to Admiral Thomas Hart's command of the Asiatic Fleet from 1939 until 1942. It includes official reports, messages, correspondence, and two special files of communications with the Chief of Naval Operations. The collection also contains the Admiral's orders; articles that he published or commented on; lectures given at the Naval War College; congratulatory letters; and a photocopy of the diary Hart maintained from 1914 to 1960.
