Biographical Note

Miles P. DuVal was born on 19 April 1896 at Portsmouth, Virginia. He was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1915 and graduated with the Class of 1919 on 6 June 1918. He subsequently advanced to the rank of Captain.


Scope and Content Note

Publications, studies, and some correspondence are included in this collection, almost all of which relate to the Panama Canal and its possible improvements. Captain Duval served as the Navy's Panama Canal Liaison Officer in Washington from 1946-1949.
