Scope and Content Note

This collection contains Captain Colbert's orders and other official correspondence, arranged in chronological order. There are also orders signed by Josephus Daniels and Franklin D. Roosevelt after the function had been taken over by the Bureau of Navigation. The collection was also used in the writing of Captain Colbert's book, A Sailor's Gift to His Family.
