Biographical Note

From June 1952 to July 1953, Admiral Daniel was the naval member of the United Nations Truce Team negotiating an armistice with the Communists at Panmunjon, Korea. As a liaison officer, Admiral Daniel was involved in negotiating Operation Little Switch, the agreements to exchange sick or injured prisoners-of-war. Discussions of this operation, which took place on 20 April 1953, are included in the transcripts of the meetings of control officers, liaison officers, and staff officers. The final Korean Armistice was signed on 27 July 1953.


Scope and Content Note

These papers relate to the negotiations. They include memoranda, copies of proposed armistice agreements, and transcripts of various meetings of the liaison group, main delegates, and staff officers.
