Scope and Content Note

This collection contains the personal files and memoirs of Captain Robert P. Molten from his Naval Academy days in 1906 until his death on USS Saratoga on 28 May 1940. His tenure in the U.S. Navy includes service on USS Minnesota, Saratoga, Samar, Helena, Baltimore, Denver, Pittsburgh, Alabama, Langley, and Lexington. He also served in various aviation assignments with Aircraft Squadrons, Battle Fleet and Naval Air Station, Coco Solo. A considerable portion of the collection consists of Molten's personal files containing official and personal correspondence, orders, and memorabilia of his naval career. A biographical data sheet is included.
