Scope and Content Note

Captain James W. Williams directed all military sealift operations in the port of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He coordinated requirements and shipping with user services and terminal operators, represented Commander, Military Sealift Command Southwest Asia in Joint and Allied planning meetings, and served as sub-area commander for the Persian Gulf.

The collection is comprised of biographical data, official and personal correspondence, printed material, photographs/negatives, and miscellany. Personal correspondence between Captain Williams and his wife, Beverly, makes up the bulk of this collection. Letters and cards from his son, mother, and friends are also included in the personal correspondence series.
