This division exhibits the National Watercraft Collection, which deals principally with merchant shipping, and the Chapelle Collection of plans dating from the War of 1812. There are over 200 rigged models and about 400 builder’s half-models among its holdings in addition to thousands of ship plans, drawings, and photographs. The bulk of ship models dates from the War of 1812.
