The Civil Engineer Corps and Seabee Museum, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, California was founded in 1947. The museum features weapons, uniforms, insignia, models, and other artifacts related to the U.S. Navy's Civil Engineer Corps (CEC), starting in the 19th century to present, and treats the history of the Seabees as they have evolved from World War II to recent times. There are also cultural items and works of art from numerous countries where these men and women have served or are currently stationed.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Historian's Office was established in 1966 in Port Hueneme. The primary function of the NAVFAC Historians Office is to provide historical support to NAVFAC Headquarters, located in Washington, D.C.

The NAVFAC Historian's Office manages the NAVFAC Archive, which is comprised of approximately 8,500 cubic feet of paper records, photographs, and films that document the history of the Bureau of Yards and Docks, NAVFAC, the Navy's Civil Engineer Corps (CEC), the Naval Construction Force (Seabees), and Navy public works in general. Most of these records date from the 1940s through the 1970s; a limited number of records documenting the history of the Bureau of Yards and Docks and the CEC date from an earlier era.
