8966. Following dispatch received from Commander Cruiser Force
QUOTE Recommend that LOUISVILLE be held in England until PLATTSBURGH [i.e. Plattsburg] and HARRISBURG are ready too, returning about August 6th then group with special destroyer escort being formed of these 3 vessels which hereafter should be kept together. Overhauling to be done in New York on account of conditions abroad.” View from this side is that vessels will generally require longer than 3 or 4 days at present available. Question of mail must be considered. Your recommendation desired 15024 8966.
