CPO ADVISORY BOARD TO CNO

1. PLANS ARE IN PROGRESS TO FORM A CPO ADVISORY BOARD TO CNO. THE BOARD WILL PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS AND ACT AS A SOUNDING BOARD ON IDEAS AND POLICY PROPOSALS OF INTEREST TO THE ENLISTED NAVY MAN. THE BOARD WILL BE COMPOSED OF SIBE8/E9 VOLUNTEERS SELECTED FROM FLEETWIDE NOMINEES, PLUS THE MCPON. MEMBERS WILL SERVE ON A FULL TIME BASIS FOR UP TO SIX MONTHS ENROUTE TO PCS TOURS IN THE WASHINGTON, D.C. AREA, TOUR ROTATION DATES WILL BE STAGGERED TO PROVIDE CONSTANT INFUSION OF NEW IDEAS FROM THE FLEET.

2. COMMANDING OFFICERS ARE REQUESTED TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS OF PARTICULARLY QUALIFIED E8/E9’S TO REACH CNP (ATTN PERS B2124) PRIOR TO 14 OCT 70. THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WILL APPLY TO SELECTION:

A) VOLUNTEERS ONLY.
B) WELL ROUNDED REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FLEET.
C) PRESENT OR RECENT FLEET/OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE.
D) WILLING TO TRAVEL.
E) SINCERE, DYNAMIC, ARTICULATE INDIVIDUALS WILLING TO AND CAPABLE OF EXPRESSING THEIR OPINIONS, IDEAS AND RECOMMENDATIONS.
F) THE BOARD AS A WHOLE SHOULD PROVIDE REPRESENTATION OF DIVERSE ENLISTED COMMUNITIES.
