Shipmissi<on> 524. For Lansing and Hurley. French Mission here informs us that ex-German ships in Brazil of an aggregate tonnage of about one hundred thousand tons are offered to French Government for charter. They believe that the French Government at present is in a better position than any of the other associated governments to negotiate with Brazil for these ships and they wish to try to charter them for a period of three or six months. Please advise us whether you would approve of such action by the French Government.1 003710   SM 524 Stevens Rublee
