6483. French Naval Intelligence Service QUOTE Various sources confirm that new German submarines are provided with radio apparatus to communicate for 150 kilometres when submerged. It is said to be possible to transmit message to a still greater distance, and the new apparatus achieves communication when submerged with seaplanes. The French General Staff note that this confirms information received from prisoners of the U.C. 38 UNQUOTE. Recommend that our own submarines radio equipment be similarly advanced as rapidly as possible. Also that the installation of radio direction finders on larger chasers and other vessels be expedited. 04014 6483
