84. For Chief of Naval Operations. Referring to my letter of April 2nd file number 3 British Admiralty now agrees to necessity for surface mining area C and desire us to lay 2 rows of surface mines to southward of their mines in that area. I prefer to lay these mines first provided anchors are available. Area C has been shifted about 25 miles to south of original position. About 6,000 mines will be required with cable 150 fathoms long 220 anchor with 150 fathom cables have been received to date. How many anchors have been wound with this length cable. How soon will they be shipped. How soon can total of 6,000 such anchors be supplied. 15125 84.
