One US Coast and Geodetic Survey Atlantic War Zone Medal. The planchet is bronze. The obverse planchet has a relief image of an eagle holding a globe with two crossed fouled anchors in the background. A suspension ring attaches the medal to a tapered ribbon. The ribbon is blue, with thin white stripes at the edges and a center grouping of thin stripes, with black in the center with white and red on either side. A pin and clasp brooch is attached to the ribbon.

This medal was awarded to any Coast and Geodetic Survey commissioned officer or to any ship's officer or member of the crew of any Coast and Geodetic Survey ship who served outside the continental limits of the United States in the Atlantic War Zone between 7 December 1941 and 8 November 1945.
