8I2. IMMEDIATE. Armistice having been signed, following action is to be taken as regards to merchant shipping. (a) Homeward mercantile convoys from North America West Coast of Africa and Gibraltar and all Mediterranean convoys are to be suspended. This does not apply to ships carrying troops or invalids, for which there will be special arrangements made. (b) Ships which would have been included in convoys under (a) are to be sailed independently in accordance with orders issued route giving officers in Admiralty telegram I838 of 9 November.1 If latter telegram has not yet been received in probable date, form, ships bound to or past north of Scotland are to be sent to Stornoway for orders, those bound for or through English Channel to be sent into Flamouth for orders, those bound for West Coast Ports or for Bay of Biscay Ports ? or Malta to be sent to their ports of destination under existing orders or approach routes. (c) Merchant ships are to burn navigation lights and are to cease zigzagging. (d) Merchant ships are to be bunkered on the bases of proceeding at normal speed with adequate margin for weather and additional margin for two or three days consumption for possible deviation.
