Letter from Princess Elizabeth to Admiral Stark, August 3, 1947 (envelope)

The Royal Lodge,

The Great Park,

Windsor,

Berks.

3rd August 1947

Dear Admiral Stark,

I was indeed delighted to receive your kind letter of congratulations on my engagement, and I send you my sincere thanks for your good wishes, which I very much appreciate.

I was very touched to hear of the interest of the people in the United States and of their kindness, and I am so grateful that you should tell me about it.

We have been quite overwhelmed by the love and good wishes that has been sent to us from all over the world, and it has made Philip and I very happy – happier than we are anyway!

My father, and mother, and Margaret were very touched by your message, and wished to be remembered to you.

With again all our thanks, from Philip and myself.

                            I am,

                                Yours sincerely,

                                    Elizabeth
