3042.     Your 2192.2 I concur in proposed plan. Suggest that majority of vessels at western base be tugs. Radius of chasers proves to be about 800 miles at 8 knots. Groups of chasers should be as large as practicable. Present plans contemplate sending about January 25 NOKOMIS, RAMBLER, UTOWANAM, BARNEGAT, and CONCORD to French Coast and Venetia, Nahant and Penobscot to Gibraltar. Margaret and Galatea to remain Azores and GYPSUM QUEEN to be sent home. 08318
