Sir:

          The Department has this date directed, by telegraph, that the ammunition now at the navy yard, Mare Island, intended for the Asiatic Station and for the U.S.F.S Baltimore,1 shall be shipped to that vessel by the “Mohican.”

          You will please prepare the “Mohican” to receive this ammunition and have her proceed to Honolulu at the earliest practicable date.
