Meritorious Unit Commendation
USS Everett F. Larson (DD-830)

The Secretary of the Navy takes pleasure in presenting the MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION TO

USS EVERETT F. LARSON (DD-830)

for service as set forth in the following

CITATION:

For meritorious service from 25 February 1972 to 19 July 1972 as a unit of the United States SEVENTH Fleet participating in combat and combat support operations in Southeast Asia. During successive naval gunfire strike operations against military targets in North Vietnam, USS EVERETT F. LARSON maneuvered under the most difficult navigational circumstances to within target range, inflicting heavy damage upon the enemy. While supplying suppression fire for the task unit, USS EVERETT F. LARSON directed maximum gunfire into enemy coastal defense sites and, although exposed to continuous heavy hostile fire, remained on station until the striking force had cleared enemy gun range. During naval gunfire support operations in South Vietnam, USS EVERETT F. LARSON succeeded in inflicting heavy damage as well as delivering accurate and destructive counterbattery fire into enemy gun emplacements. The professionalism, esprit de corps, and teamwork displayed by the personnel of USS EVERETT F. LARSON were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
