Scope and Content Note
Although the directive for the submission of war diaries was cancelled with the end of World War II, many commands continued them during 1946. In the Korean Conflict diaries were again required but, unlike World War II, only from naval units operating in the combat area. They were not required during the Vietnam war.
Included in the diaries submitted both in World War II and in the Korean Conflict are some originated by British naval commands and other foreign forces.
