Scope and Content Note

These records document the Navy's role as the civil administrator of the Bonin-Volcano Islands (1945-1968), the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (1946-1956), and the Northern Marianas Islands (1952-1962). There is also a small amount of material on the administration of Guam and American Samoa. They include periodic reports of military government activities, documentation on the formulation of civil government policies, pictorial materials, and newspapers.
