6    Nelson1 at Corfu has been instructed to neith<er> seek nor accept orders looking to the removal of his forces from Corfu to any other base or to employment other than as a part of the mobile barrage in the Straits of Otranto. This is communicated for your information in case enquiry should be made of you as to our policy. I am informed that Admiralty has made plans for abandonment of the Otranto mobile barrage but that these are to become effective only in case Austria drops out of the war.
