Captain William B. Fletcher, Force Commander, Special Patrol Squadron to Commanding Officers

U. S. PATROL SQUADRONS

U.S.S. NOMA, FLAGSHIP

23 June 1917.

From: Force Commander, U.S. Patrol Squadrons.

To: Commanding Officers.

Subject: Esprit de Corps.

     1.   The privilege has been given the vessels of this Force to go to the front and do their share toward bringing the war to a close, into which our country has entered for just and worthy reasons.

     2.   It is believed that a high and serious regard for the nature of our missions, and for the honor and good name of our country will cause every member of this command to always cheerfully do his best, whatever the conditions may be; and that all times every endeavor will be made to creditably represent the country from which we come.

     3.   It is particularly desirable that during periods of recreation on shore, the earnest purpose of the command be at all times reflected in the creditable conduct of its personnel.
