Naval History and Heritage Command

Thomas Hone, Ph.D, has had long experience as an executive in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and is an award-winning author of many papers and books on naval subjects, including American and British Aircraft Carrier Development, 1911-1941. He has taught at the Naval War College and the National Defense University among other institutions. Among his publications are  Power and change: the administrative history of the office of the Chief of Naval Operations, 1946-1986, and, with Trent Hone, Battle Line: The United States Navy, 1919-1939.
