One silver slide-locking belt buckle. In the center of the buckle is a bas relief image of a ship. The buckle is etched above and below the ship "USS Reasoner / FF-1063." The belt clamp is stamped "Japan."

Differing from the uniform belt buckle prescribed by the US Navy Uniform Regulations, this decorative version is an example of a "good guy" belt buckle. Sailors were given these by the ship's Executive Officer (XO) and only allowed to wear them if they had been on the ship for at least six months and had not been disciplined with any non-judicial punishment.
