Commander John J. Hunker to Commodore George C. Remey, Commandant, Key West Naval Base

Tampa, Fla, June 3, 1898

     Boat capacity of transports average about 110 persons[.] No steam launches. General Shafter1 informed me that two large steam lighters are to be taken along. Gunboats here have steam launches and four boats each. Convoy ships should bring all their boats. Navy expected to assist. Army will not embark before Sunday.
