One gold Distinguished Marksman service medal awarded to Carl T. Osburn. The suspension bar is embossed // U.S. NAVY // on the obverse. Suspended below the bar by two links is a shield-shaped medal. The obverse is embossed // DISTINGUISHED MARKSMAN // There is a white enamel square in the center of the medal with two concentric circles and a solid black circle inside. Reverse of medal is engraved // 1927/CT Osburn/Commander/US Navy // Pin and clasp are stamped 14k.

This badge is awarded to members of the military that have achieved prestige in target practice with a service rifle or pistol. This badge once achieved must be on your person at all times as an inspectible item. It is considered the essence of recognition and success for the bearer. This medal was awarded to Carl T. Osburn in 1927 while he was a Commander in the US Navy.
