Title: Aft Section, Howell Torpedo No. 24, #2013-001-001
Caption: The tail-section is partially submerged for conservator Paul Mardikian to mechanical clean the exposed portions.
Description: Towards the end of conservation treatment, conservator Paul Mardikian from Terra Mare Conservation is mechanically cleaning the outer rim of the tail-section of Howell torpedo No. 24 at the Naval History & Heritage Command Archaeology and Conservation Lab in March 2015. The tail-section was soon declared stable and could therefore be taken out of the tank, thoroughly rinsed and dried for the final stages of treatment.
