Description: WASHINGTON (July 23, 2015) Detail of one of the propellers on the after-body section of the now fully conserved Howell Mark I Torpedo No. 24 at Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Archaeology & Conservation Laboratory on the Washington Navy Yard. Lost from the Iowa (BB 4) during a training exercise and found by a dolphin team from the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program off the coast of San Diego, conservators have been preserving and studying the torpedo since May 2013.
