Macon (PF‑96)

Named for the city in Georgia.

The name Macon was assigned to a Tacoma-class frigate, PF‑96, on 30 August 1943. Slated to be built at Lorain, Ohio, by the American Shipbuilding Co., under a Maritime Commission contract, Macon was canceled on 31 December 1943.
