Title: Tektite equipment
Description: The equipment for the Tektite I, as ferried to the Virgin Island site by the Dock Landing Ship USS Hermitage (LSD-34). The Tektite project is sponsored jointly by the Navy Department, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Department of the Interior. Beginning on February 15, 1969 four aquanauts will spend sixty days in the Tektite I Habitat on the ocean floor off the coast of the Virgin Islands.
