L38-12.12.02 Medal of Honor ceremony for LT Vincent R. Capodanno

Mr. James S. Capodanno, of Staten Island, New York, holds the Medal of Honor which was awarded posthumously to his brother, Lieutenant Vincent R. Capodanno, a Navy Chaplain. At left is Secretary of the Navy Paul R. Ignatius, who, acting for the President, presented the Medal in a ceremony held at the Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC, on Tuesday, January 7, 1969. Holding a portrait painting of father Capodanno is Rear Admiral James W. Kelly, Chief of Chaplains, US Navy.
