Description: One photo album related to the service of Ralph Ludlum on board USS President Lincoln during World War I, donated by James Vazquez, a friend of Ludlum’s descendants. Photos cover three trans-Atlantic trips, with a note that photos were not allowed on a fourth voyage, when the ship was sunk. Shown are gun crews in action, Army troops during transport across the Atlantic, boxing, radio room, soldiers/sailors eating, Major General J. Franklin Bell. Locations shown include Hoboken, NJ; St. Nazaire and Brest, France; New York City.Several photos of civilians who appear to be family and friends back home. Also seen is USS Leviathan (ID #1326), USS Covington (ID #1409), USS President Grant (SP-3014), USS Finland (ID #4543). Newspaper clippings of the sinking. Various paperwork belonging to Ludlum, some related to his World War I service, some circa 1940’s and unrelated to his service. Album was disassembled due to deterioration.
