Description: Oversize scrapbook titled “United States Ship Spokane CL-120.” Contents related to the cruiser USS Spokane include photographs, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, event invitations, maps, signatures of plankowner crew. Photos show the full life of the ship from construction beginning in 1944 (keel laying, christening, launching, commissioning) to time in service, through deactivation in 1950. Notable figures shown include: Rear Admiral F.E. Haeberle, Captain L.E. Crist, Spokane Mayor Arthur Meehan, Rear Admiral F.E.M. Whiting, Admiral R.L. Conolly, Captain Cole. Scenes during service include: ship underway, inspection, fishing for shark, social activities in Europe, field day ashore with sports, awards. Many of the images have been assigned NH numbers.
