NHF-132 Rear Admiral Ammen Farenholt Collection

Two photo albums donated to the Naval Historical Foundation by Lieutenant Commander Oscar W. Farenholt, and subsequently donated to the Naval History and Heritage Command.  Albums contain hand tinted photography of China and Japan circa 1890-1905.

Description: Two photo albums donated to the Naval Historical Foundation by Lieutenant Commander Oscar W. Farenholt, and subsequently donated to the Naval History and Heritage Command. Albums contain hand tinted photography of China and Japan circa 1890-1905. NHF-132-A Photo album containing hand tinted photography of China and Japan circa 1890-1905. Primarily tourist photos people, scenes, and landmarks ashore. Very little related to the US Navy, except for a photo containing USS Concord (PG-3), USS Charleston (C-2) and USS Baltimore (C-3). Photos appear to be mass produced.Binding broken and pages deteriorating, scrapbook disassembled. NHF-132-B Photo album containing hand tinted photography of China and Japan circa 1890-1905. Scenes at Nagasaki, Yokusuka, Tokyo, Chefoo. Album cover is lacquer covered view of Mount Fujiyama, album binding is broken.
